Nikola Tesla, was born in Smiljan, Austria- Hungary (present-day Croatia) in 10 July,1856, Tesla’s curiosity about the world around him knew no bounds. He possessed a photographic memory and thirst for understanding the mysteries of science. At the age of 19 Nikola was studying Electrical Engineering at Graz Polytechnic in Austria .

Tesla’s journey began in Europe, where he sharpened his skills as an electrical engineer. In 1884, he set sail for the United States, a land with opportunity for a young inventor with big dreams. He soon found himself working alongside the already famous Thomas Alva Edison. However, their visions for the future of electricity clashed. Tesla believed alternating current (AC) was the real game-changer. Edison offered him $50,000 but later on denied to pay. Tesla immediately resigned from the job.

Tesla’s faith in AC proved to be spot-on. AC’s ability to transmit electricity over long distances made it far more efficient than DC. The Western Union Company  hired Tesla to work where he designed AC Power System which is in use till today all over the world. Tesla immediately patented his AC motors and AC power system. In The meantime, The Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co. recognized Tesla’s design and made agreement with him for royalties and licensed his patents . However, later on on request of Westinghouse he walked away from

His inventions were as diverse as they were innovative. He developed the polyphase system, which allowed for the efficient generation and transmission of AC power. He invented the Tesla coil, a high-voltage transformer that revolutionised radio technology. He even envisioned wireless communication and the transmission of electricity without wires, ideas that seem mind-blowing even today.

Beyond his inventions, Tesla was a visionary thinker who dared to dream of a future powered by renewable energy and free from the limitations of fossil fuels. He conducted pioneering research on cosmic rays and even envisioned interplanetary travel.Tesla was known for his intense work ethic, often labouring for days on end with little sleep.

Believe it or not, Tesla actually rejected the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1912. He shared the honour with Guglielmo Marconi, but the two had a long-standing feud over who invented radio. Tesla believed Marconi has used his patents but court eventually favoured Marconi. In 1943 after the death of Tesla Supreme court of US upheld Tesla’s claim and his role in invention of the Radio. These stories paint a richer picture of Nikola Tesla, the man behind the inventions. He wasn’t just a genius; he was a legend.

Tesla’s legacy lives on in every flicker of light powered by AC electricity, in every radio wave that carries music and information, and in the dreams of a future powered by clean energy. He was a man who dared to challenge the status quo and push the boundaries of what was possible, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations of scientists and dreamers.

So, the next time you stand before the thunderous falls, remember not just the natural wonder, but the human ingenuity that dared to tame its power and illuminate the world with its spark. Remember Nikola Tesla, the AC Ace who turned a waterfall into a source of progress, forever changing the course of history.

Tesla had a soft spot for animals. He refused to harm any living creature and even advocated for animal rights, a rare stance for his time. Despite his groundbreaking contributions, Tesla’s later years were marked by financial struggles and public ridicule. He died in 7th January, 1943, a lonely figure whose true genius wasn’t fully recognized until after his death.
